Joshua was born on August 1,1756 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He passed away on September 25th, 1844 in Jersey County, Illinois.
​
On July 7, 1785 he married Sarah Morris. She was the daughter of Morris Morris. Sarah was born on July 7,1763 and passed away on January 6, 1850.
​
Joshua served in the Revolutionary War as a private, scout and officer. His veteran’s pension number is #23461. During the war he lived in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
​
Sarah and Joshua were the parents of seven known children; Robert, Margaret, Thomas, William, Andrew Jackson, Maurice and Nancy
.
